10 Months Old

I'm a little delayed in this posting, but better late than never!  Mason is now 10 months old.  I think when he turns one year it is going to hit me hard.  Sigh.

At 10 months Mason is still in a size 4 diaper, wearing 12 month clothes, has 5 teeth and weighs 20 pounds.  He is taking two naps a day although I'm not sure how much longer that will last now that he has started school.  He has been taking a short morning nap (30 min) and a longer afternoon nap (2 hours) but I think that's probably because all (or most) of the babies are probably sleeping during his afternoon stretch. He still goes to bed around 7:30 each night and wakes up between 6:30 and 7:00am each morning.

This boy loves to eat and the only thing he has refused to eat so far is hamburger - which was surprising to me.  He rarely eats baby food and prefers to have whatever we are eating for dinner.  If he runs outs, he says "ugh" or "ooo" and kicks his legs until he gets our attention and them he grins as big as he can as if to say, "more please!"

Something Mason has done for a month or so is hold on the car seat.  Justin jokes around that the reason he does that is because I drive too fast.  Haha.  Regardless of the reason, it's so funny to see him do it.  As soon as we strap him in, he grabs hold.

Recently, I have given Mason a sippy cup to try.  He has never taken a drink out of it and mainly just uses it to chew on and then throw. Lately he has gotten worse about throwing things like his toys and dropping food on the floor.  Kate would throw any food on the floor that she didn't want to eat.  Mason doesn't typically play with his food since he's so busy cramming it in his mouth, but if he is ever full with some food left on his tray, he does start dropping it and then looking at us to see if we are watching.

Mason has been hearing the words "no no" a lot and he will give with one or two reactions - burst into tears or look straight at us and repeat exactly what we just told him not to (which usually results in us popping his hand and saying "no").
One of Mason's favorite rooms in the house is in Kate's room.  If he crawls off, that's the first place we look for him.  He loves to play at her kitchen or sit beside her pink table and play with whatever has fallen off the table.  It's so sweet watching them play together.
At 10 months, Mason had his first real sickness. I took him to Capital Health Plan Urgent Care since I could tell he wasn't feeling good. He had been waking up several times at night and both of his eyes had green goop that wouldn't go away. The diagnosis was pink eye in both eyes and a double ear infection. Poor little guy! I felt terrible that he had been feeling so bad for several days but thankfully the antibiotics and eye drops seem to be working and he is making a quick recovery. Whew.

Bath time is still one of Mason's favorite things and even more so when Kate joins him.  He is bad about standing up and then falling (of course) so his time in the tub is usually limited.

I couldn't resist one naked picture - I just want to squeeze that little hiney.

Happy 10 Month Birthday Mase!
