Nanny's Birthday

Monday night we celebrated Nanny's birthday. Everyone was able to come except Justin, who was sick at home. Despite Justin not being there, we had a great time with Mom and Dad, Nanny, Uncle Jordan, Aunt Katie and their newest addition Berkley (a labradoodle puppy).
Notice the terrible bruise on Kate's cheek?  She was jumping in the bed fell right into the railing.  Poor girl.

Helping Nanny blow out the candle on her cake.
Kate also helped Nanny open her present - a photo book!

Kate and Berkley are getting to be friends - as long as Berkley doesn't nip at her!
Happy Birthday Nanny!  We hope you had a great one!

Tracy's Baby Shower

This past weekend was very busy!  Katie and I spent most of the weekend buying the decorations for Tracy Reavis' baby shower.  Friday night we shopped, Saturday we made the diaper cake and name banner (with a tremendous amount of help from Mom with the diaper cake) and Sunday afternoon was the shower!
Our diaper cake centerpiece.

I was busy writing down the gifts that I didn't get any pictures of Tracy opening them.
The Hosts: Martha Stutzman, Carol Fisher, Marilyn Evers, Tracy Reavis, Katie Cowart,
Rebecca Evers and Gloria Cowart (from left to right)
We are so excited for the Reavis family.  Audrey is going to be a great big sister and we can't wait to meet Sawyer!

Nap? No way!

I was not going to let this long weekend go by without updating my blog since I have been behind lately. For some reasons on the weekends, it takes Kate a while to take her nap. I usually update my blog at night but this afternoon has been unusually productive for me since it took Kate two hours to go to sleep! At one point when I walked in to tell her "lay down!" I found this and had to share:

She's too busy balancing everything on the rails of her crib to go to sleep.  Silly girl.

Happy Birthday Mimi!

Monday night we celebrated Mimi's birthday! We ate at the new Cody's Roadhouse restaurant and it was packed! We waited a while for our food and Kate was so sweet and patient the whole time, until every one's food arrived except hers and she lost it. It was heartbreaking watching those crocodile tears flow and the only thing that finally consoled her was the arrival of her chicken fingers. Poor girl. Her night did get better when the hostesses gave her a balloon and tootsie roll pop. And, kids eat free on Monday and Tuesdays so it was bonus for us too!

I couldn't resist taking a picture of Kate's outfit - it's one of my favorite winter outfits and she gets compliments everytime she wears it.
Happy Birthday Mimi!  Thank you for inviting us to celebrate with you!

Natasha and Declan's Shower

Last Saturday, Mailin, Rebekah and I hosted a shower for our best friend Natasha and her little bundle of joy, Declan. I'm so thankful Natasha and her husband are able to come visit for a month each Christmas and this time was an added bonus since we got to meet Declan (2 months old). Since we were not able to throw Natasha a shower before Declan's arrival, we took the opportunity while they were in town to throw a shower so friends and family could "shower" them with money and a couple easily packable items to use back home (we decided it was earlier to transport money rather than toys and other bulky items). Rebekah was gracious to let us use her place for the party and Mailin was a life saver with her adorable decorations and creativity.

The food table - cupcakes and quiche (both from Sam's), fruit, chicken nuggets, hot bacon dip with bread & crackers, and turtle cookies.

Elephant cupcake toppers - one of Mailin's creations.

Declan's name banner.  Mailin came up with the idea to hang paper onesies so guests could write a note on the onesie and hang their money/card with it.

Our guest of honor - sleeping through his party.

Kate meets Declan

Tonight, we started off the new year with a visit from Mr. Declan. We enjoyed dinner last night with Aunt Katie, Uncle Jordan and Mailin for New Year's Eve (left at 10) and then tonight we got to celebrate once again with friends.  Justin and I enjoyed visiting with Rhys, Natasha, Mailin, Jessica and Jessica's fiance Greg (who flew in from Texas for a short visit). Kate was sweet to Declan but didn't pay him much attention, unless I was holding him.
 Declan was all smiles.
Can't wait for the baby shower next Saturday in Declan's honor!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
