11 Months Old!

Mason turned 11 months old on September 19th and now the countdown to his big first birthday has begun.  I need time to slow down! At 11 months, Mason has mastered standing up unsupported (for a few seconds) and walking along the furniture.  It won’t be long before he’s walking!  Daddy also recently taught Mason how to give a high-five.  If you hold your hand up to him, he will grin and usually hit it with his hand.
Mason has also started to mimic a few words, although I’m not convinced that he knows what he is saying.  He can say “Daddy”, “Mama” and “Papa”.  Bath time is still one of Mason’s favorites but recently, he has started to pull Kate’s hair in the tub so his bath time often gets cut short.  I guess it’s too tempting not to touch her hair when it’s that close to him.  Poor big sister – I know it hurts.
Mason now has 6 teeth and is wearing 18 month clothes, size 3 shoes and size 4 diapers.  It’s hard to keep packing up the old clothes he has outgrown because it’s just a reminder that he will never be that little again.  He still has a huge appetite and will eat anything you put in front of him.
Mason seems to be adjusting well to school.  There were a couple days in the beginning that he cried when I dropped him off, but lately he just smiles and goes willingly into the arms of one of his teachers.  He has two other little boys in his class and three little girls so there’s a good mix of babies.  Mason has even made a few friends with some of the other teachers so he’s not lacking for attention.
Our little man has had a rough couple weeks, suffering from ear infections in both ears that just don’t seem to want to heal.  The only hint I have that something is wrong is that Mason is difficult to get to sleep when his ears are bothering him.  Other than that, he’s usually in a good mood.  Last week, he was also teething and had a bad cold/congestion in addition to his ears hurting so he was pitiful.  Thankfully he seems to be on the men so hopefully those ears will clear up once and for all.
I love my little butterball!

Kate's 4th Birthday Party!

This morning was the last of the birthday festivities - whew!  We had a great party at our house and thankfully the rain held off until after everyone left.  Just about everyone that we invited was able to come so we had a great turnout!  The bounce house arrived around 8:30 this morning so Kate enjoyed a little pre-party bouncing.  She thought the castle was a present and here to stay, but she handled it well when we told her it had to go back.  She asked if she could have it again for her next birthday and we said "sure"!

Thank you Aunt Katie for the adorable name banner!

I tried to get at least one picture of all Kate's friends:
 Sawyer
 Nolan
 Audrey
 Maddox
 Maclain
 Uncle Jordan and Camden

 Mrs. Katie and Maddox
Peyton
 Mrs. Sarah and Landon
Brooks and Peyton (Kate & Peyton go to school together)
 Mason & Landon
 Charlie
We managed to convince the kids to come inside to cool off for a minute and sing Happy Birthday to Kate.  She loved her princess castle cookie cake (I'm so glad we splurged on it)!

Kate was entertaining opening her presents - gasping and yelling "oooh" when she opened each one.

All the great presents from her sweet friends.
We love you princess Kate!  We hope you had a wonderful 4th birthday!

Kate is Four!

Tuesday our little girl turned four years old!!  Kate is one of the greatest blessings I have and words can not express how much I love her.  She is so funny, sweet, smart and a great big sister.  Her latest phrases are "I have it under control" or "You are the best daddy/mommy ever!".  Tuesday morning we woke Kate up early and let her open her presents from mommy, daddy & Mason.  I think she was a little confused that Santa had come and dropped off her presents - haha.  I tried to tell her they were from us but she still asked me, "Did Santa bring these?"

A few pictures with mommy and daddy before we all had to leave for work/school...

Poor Mason slept through the "party" since he still has a double ear infection.

Kate picked out cupcakes to take to school that day to celebrate with her friends.  I thought I would go at lunch time to hand out the cupcakes, but her teacher suggested they eat the cupcakes for the morning snack (which is right before outside time) so I decided to just drop them off and let Ms. AuCare handle the school celebration. I couldn't argue with that plan - it sounded like a good one! I hated not to be there but I didn't want to leave an hour after I got to work that morning and I knew Kate would have a wonderful time, with or without me.

That night, we met all our family at Red Elephant for Kate's birthday dinner.  I knew if I asked Kate where she wanted to eat the answer would be Chick-fil-a.  Although we love CFA, I decided it would be difficult to enjoy a sit down dinner with that many people so I asked her if she wanted to go to Red Elephant.  She quickly responded "sure!" and I knew she would since she loves playing in the game room.

We had a great time and I think everyone enjoyed the new location.  It wasn't as quiet as our typical Old Town location, but now that Kate is getting older I wanted to go somewhere I knew she would enjoy too.  Mimi and Papa gave her several balloons and she got lots of great birthday gifts too!

Despite a double ear infection, Mason was one sweet little brother during dinner.

I love her expression in this picture - so sweet and innocent.
This birthday girl is so blessed to have so many people that love her!
