Ears Pierced!

This morning on the way to her t-ball game, Kate announced she would like to get her ears pierced.  Apparently she had been putting some thought into it and I told her I'd be happy to take her.  We already had plans to go shopping with Gigi after the game, so we stopped by Claire's in the mall and fulfilled Kate's request.

 Brave girl!
She flinched when they pierced them, but that was all!  She's one tough girl.
 All done!
You can't tell in the picture, but Kate picked out cute little pink crystal flowers.  She has to keep them in for three weeks but we also let her pick out several other pairs of earrings that she can wear as soon as these three weeks are up.  They look so good!

First (and Second) Tooth Gone!

Kate lost her first tooth on April 21st.  She has been waiting and waiting for the day to finally arrive and it did.  That morning, we were all at school for her Kindergarten Program.  Each class sang a song about Spring and Kate's class was the Army Ants, marching their way through springtime picnics. They did a fantastic job!
Mason had the best seat in the house:

Thank you Gigi, Granddaddy (and Mimi) for coming!
 So proud of our girl!

Later that day, Kate bit into an apple at lunch and her bottom front tooth popped out!  Caroline's mommy was there and took a couple pictures and sent them to me. :)

Before bed, we put her tooth in the pillow Mimi had made for her.
When Kate woke up the next morning, she discovered the Tooth Fairy had left her $1!
Later that day, Kate's second bottom (loose) tooth came out and the Tooth Fairy left her another dollar for that one!  Very exciting - two teeth in less than 24 hours. I was a little heartbroken because it was the first big milestone that I missed (or at least that I know of).  I was there when she said her first word, took her first step, slept in her big girl bed for the first time, first time going on the potty, first day of school, etc.  But I missed her losing her first tooth.  I'm sure it won't be the last time I miss a milestone but it's another reminder of how quickly she's growing up!

Catching Up on April Events

April has been a very busy month!  I'm not sure where it went, but it's already gone.  Before I get too far behind I'm going to do a catch up post of a few things that have happened.

Kate had a school assignment to think of a planet, come up with a name and answer some questions about it.  I was very proud of her for working hard.  She decided on a blue planet that she named "Little Blue" (very appropriate).

 Her worksheet asked the following:

Q: What is the name of your planet?
A: Little Blue
Q: What does your planet look like?
A: It looks like marbles
Q: Who lives on your planet?
A: Aliens
And then she drew what the aliens look like.

A close up of Kate's picture:
Since Kate was busy designing a planet, Mason decided he was going to draw one too and named it planet "BB".
In between work and school, we manage to squeeze in several t-ball games.  Mailin came to a Saturday morning game and cheered on our girl!

I had to document our commitment...sitting in the rain.  Kate kept shouting, "Is it over yet?!  I'm getting wet!"  Thankfully the game didn't last too much longer.

 Fun a t-ball.
Showing off her two missing teeth (later post about that)!
When Kate's not playing t-ball, daddy and I are playing softball each Friday night.  It's been a lot of fun getting back into playing together on the same team.  Last night, I hit a stand up double - woo hoo!  While we are playing, Mrs. Marleni's three girls watch/play with Kate and Mason.  Our kids look forward to each Friday night.

A couple Friday nights ago, I got pulled over for speeding on the way home.  Oops!  Thankfully, I was issued a warning - whew! The kids were worried that I was going to jail but I explained the worst thing that would happen is I would have to pay a lot of money. During my explanation, I taught Kate how to read the speedometer, and she has kept a close eye on it ever since.  She informs now me whenever I'm going to fast.  I think I need to move her car seat. :)
Within the last couple months, I (and the kids) have discovered Snapchat (a phone app that lets you put filters on videos and pictures and share them with friends for a brief period of time before they disappear).  We love "snapping" each day...

Uncle Jordan had his arms full.
Mrs. Kim, Mrs. Marleni and I took a "field trip" to the capital one day to drop off some paperwork.  Who can resist a picture with the dolphins?!
We celebrated another co-worker's wedding (Ms. Jen) one evening with matching shirts and a girls night out.  Fun, fun!
Date night with this handsome man:
 The cutest cowboy:
He is obsessed!  Papa caught a possum in a trap the other weekend and when he asked Mason if they should shoot it, Mason replied "No, I don't have my cowboy outfit on".  Haha.
 Pajama Day at school!
He still loves Paw Patrol (and "Sleepy Kitty" - the scary looking black cat)
For Ms. Jen's wedding, they had a Snapchat filter specially designed for their event.  On their wedding day, we could snap pictures using that filter.  So neat!  I had no idea you could do that!

A few more from the wedding...
Kate and Millie (Marleni's youngest daughter)

Me and the Bride
(it was a VERY casual wedding)
Work Friends!
Me, Kim, Jen and Brittany (who came down from Nashville)
Being silly (Kim, Brittany, Marleni and I)

We took the kids to another FSU baseball game one Sunday afternoon.  Crazy munchkins...we all had a lot of fun!

 FSU Cuties.
May means that Kindergarten is coming to a close.  I can't believe the school year is almost over!
Mrs. Pettway and Ms. Daniel's Kindergarten Class.

And a few pictures of recent artwork from our budding artist...
Family picture.  I took this to my office so I can look at each day.  Kate apologized to me that one of my legs was bigger than the other. :) And it makes me laugh because Justin has grey hair - hehe.
I think the crab is the cutest thing ever.

 Another family picture.
Love these two school assignments she completed.  It shows off her ability to draw and I'm proud of her handwriting.  It's much improved when she takes her time and writes slowly.

And this one makes me tear up...
 So precious.

The summer will be here before we know it and it's going to be a busy one!  Can't wait!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
