4 Month Checkup

We went Tuesday morning for Mason's 4 month appointment.  He got a great report and was very happy during the appointment.  The only time he got upset was when he got his shots, but he quickly quit crying once we picked him up.  Nothing was said about the torticollis, but we didn't see Dr. Elzie at this appointment, so I'll have to remember to ask about that at his six month appointment.  I think Mason is doing much better, although he still leans his head slightly to the left.

Here are his stats at 4 months old:

Head Circumference: 42.5cm, 60th percentile

Height: 25 1/4 inches, 70th percentile

Weight: 15 lbs 1 oz, 60th percentile

One of the only pictures I have of Mason in his car seat - happy!  It only lasted a minute or two and then he demanded to be taken out.
 Waiting on the doctor.
At four months old, Mason is starting to really enjoy the exersaucer.  I'm surprised at how well he can spin it around and "play" with all the toys.  He enjoys watching Kate from this view.

 Big boy!

My sweet boy is mainly in six month clothes although he can wear a few three month outfits (pants and a few fleece sleepers).  He is still wearing a size two diaper but really needs to be moved up to a three but I'm trying to use up all the size two diapers we have.  He is still taking acid reflux medicine twice a day although we haven't felt a need to increase the dosage so I guess that's a good sign.  The doctor said once he starts solid foods he probably won't need the medicine anymore.
Mason also does good holding his head up while on his tummy.  I usually find him like this before and after his naps.  Such a happy boy.

I think he looks more like me in this picture.

Mason is sleeping great and has gotten on a pretty consistent routine as far as bedtime.  He usually goes to sleep between 7 and 7:30 at night and will sleep until 6, sometimes 6:30am.  No complaints here!  During the day he prefers to take three naps.  Usually one good morning nap (9-11:30 or so) and then an afternoon nap (1:30/2:00-3:30) and a short cat nap around 5:30 for about 30 minutes or so.
Mason is also an official thumb sucker.  I have tried to get him to take a pacifier over and over but he refuses.  It's sweet at this age, but I'm concerned about how long this phase might last.  I can easily take away a pacifier, but not a thumb!
  Happy 4 month birthday Mason!

Sarah's Baseball Baby Shower

Sunday afternoon, we threw Sarah Mullinax a baby shower for their little boy that is due the first of April.  We had been planning the baseball themed shower for almost a month and everything turned out so cute!  I think we did a good blend of baseball and I owe a huge thank you to my mom and Aunt Katie for helping me with my part of the decorations.  This is just the first of many baby showers coming up for several baby boys that are due over the next few months.

The invitation - I love Etsy!
Our baseball themed diaper cake.  Each one turns out better and better.  Sarah and Rob are naming the baby Landon Robert so we put his monogram on a baseball as the topper.

Love the idea to frame the invitation for Sarah to take home.

Thank you Aunt Katie for your help on the name banner - this picture doesn't do it justice.
The food table - mostly baseball themed of coarse
(red & blue fruit, mini hotdogs, nachos, cracker jacks and cupcakes)

Thank you Pinterest for the cute ideas!

Another creation Aunt Katie helped me with.
The guests signed the baseball bat - I love how it was displayed.
 Opening gifts.

We can't wait to meet baby Landon!

Sawyer's First Birthday Party!

Saturday morning we went to Sawyer's 1st birthday party!  Tracy did a great job putting it together and we had a wonderful time!
The invitation - such a cute theme!

Sweet girls.

Happy First Birthday Sawyer!!

Mason's 1st Trip to Naples

Last week, Justin and I took the kids down to Naples for a quick visit with his grandparents.  I'm so glad we went but it was a lot of work!  It's hard traveling with two small kids and we had no idea what to expect with Mason being in the car seat for an extended period of time.  Our trip both ways took 8 hours instead of 6.5 but that was good considering we made a couple stops on the way down and the way back.

Tuesday morning we got on the road about 8:45 in the morning. Our motto was to drive as far as we could in between stops (translated: drive until we couldn't stand to hear Mason cry anymore).  Kate was our easy traveler - she watched movies the entire trip (Cinderella, Tinkerbell, Strawberry Shortcake, Barbie Princess and Micky Mouse Clubhouse).  She got so upset with us that we put a pullup on her, but we didn't want to risk waking Mason up if she needed to stop while he was asleep.  To our surprise, Kate never had one accident in her pull up and waited until we stopped each time to go potty.  We were so proud of her!

When we left Tuesday morning, Mason cried for about 30 minutes and then fell sleep for the next two hours.  We made it to Ocala and stopped for lunch at Chickfila so Kate could eat and play while I fed Mason in the car.  When he was done, I got my food to-go and we hit the road again.  Mason slept another couple hours and we stopped again in Venice, FL at a Publix.  Once again, I fed Mason in the car and Justin and Kate went inside to get some snacks.  We finally made it to Naples around 5:00pm.  There were several periods of crying and even some screaming, but overall Mason did great.  He would play for a little bit while he was awake but that usually only lasted a couple minutes.  I'm so relieved I never got a speeding ticket because to be completely honest, when the crying started my foot always pressed the gas pedal a little harder.

Gaga graciously let us stay at her house although she is temporarily staying at an assisted living facility.  It's amazing how we were only there 30 minutes and we had already taken over the house.  Wednesday, we spent most of the day out at the Evers' house.  All of the pictures I took were out there.  I tried to do better about taking pictures but both of the kids kept me so busy I didn't have much time to pause and grab my camera.

 Handsome boy.
He was in a great mood the entire time!

Spending time with Aunt Molly.
Can't visit Nene and Pa's house without riding the tractor!

 Nene and the kids.

We left Nene and Pa's around 3 and had hoped to see Gaga that afternoon but she wasn't feeling up to it. Thursday was Valentine's day and the weather was miserable in Naples - rainy and overcast. We went to Bass Pro that morning and headed back into town at lunch time to eat at the Silver Slipper (my pick) and then back to Gaga's house for naps.  After short naps, Gaga was feeling a little better so we ran over to the place she was staying and was able to visit with her about 15 minutes.  Although we didn't get to chat long, it was so good to see her and I was so happy she was able to meet Mason.  That evening, the weather was still terrible so I just ran out and picked up a pizza (daddy's pick) at a fancy restaurant and we enjoyed thin crust pepperoni for dinner and Cheesecake Factory cheesecake for dessert.  It was the perfect Valentine's day!

Friday morning, Mason got us all up early (5:30am) so we quickly packed and got on the road by 7:30am.  We only made it an hour or so before Mason decided he was ready to eat so once again we stopped at Chickfila.  We got back on the road after our breakfast stop and pushed through all the way to Gainesville.  Once we ate lunch, we got back on the road and made it back home by 4:00pm.  Whew.  I was so relieved to make it back!

We had a great trip and I'm so thankful Mason was able to meet all his great-grandparents!  What a blessing they are.

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
