St. Augustine Girl's Weekend

A couple weekends ago I had the opportunity to go to St. Augustine with just my girl friends for a quick trip. Our friend Natasha, who lives in Australia, was home for a month so we made last minute plans to go to St. Augustine for two nights. Our weekend was filled with eating, shopping, and just walking around St. Augustine taking in all the history. I'm already planning next year's trip!

 Me, Natasha, Rebekah, and Mailin.

Happy Birthday Nanny!

Last Sunday (the 23rd) we had the honor of celebrating Nanny's birthday! I won't reveal her age, but I will hint that it was a milestone birthday. One of her presents was a gorgeous garnet ring (her birth stone) and Kate was fascinated by the ring box.

I love this picture of Nanny and Kate.

Hope you had a great birthday Nanny!

Graduation Pictures and More

Here are some of the pictures I have been wanting to post from Jordan's graduation (finally!)

 Two FSU grads!
Congrats again Uncle Jordan!

On Martin Luther King weekend (while Daddy was out of town hunting), Kate and I spent some time at Gigi and Granddaddy's house where Kate rode in her wagon for the first time (the wagon was one of her Christmas gifts).
And on Monday morning we had our first breakfast play date with Mrs. Tracy and Audrey at Chick-fil-a.  It was the perfect place to play on a rainy day.

This was actually Kate's first time in the play area (can't you tell by the expression on her face?).  She just stood there most of the time while Audrey ran laps around her, going up and down the slide.

Best Friends.
Thanks Mrs. Tracy and Audrey for the invitation - we will have to do it again soon!

Health Scare

It has been an (unwanted) eventful week at the Evers' house.  Tuesday night Justin had a seizure in his sleep which woke me up and scared me to death!  It was my first (and hopefully last) call to 911 and thankfully Kate slept through everything.  My parents met me at my house, my Mom stayed with Kate, and my dad followed us to TMH where Marilyn met us (Justin's dad was out of town).  So far, his test results have come back normal but he still has about 4 more tests to take.  Please keep him in your prayers.  I'm anxious until all the test results come back since Justin has no personal or family history of seizures. I hope we can find out what caused it, but I've heard these tests are really to found out "what it isn't" more so than "what it is".

I have so many pictures to share and FUN things to blog about so hopefully I can do that this weekend.  The good thing about events like these are all the friends and family that surround you with love and support.  Thank you!!

Lazy Saturday

Sometimes the days when we have nothing much going on are my favorite.  Kate and I have had a great day today; it is so much fun spending the day with my little monkey.  We both slept in (until 7:30) and had a wonderful, lazy day. Mady and her mommy Mary came over around 11 for a play date since the girls hadn't seen each other in months.  I have got to do better about getting together with them because we always have a great time catching up.  Ms. Kate was a great little hostess.  She shared all her toys and even let Mady play in her pink car.  After our play date, Kate took a fantastic three hour nap and then we ran to Publix for some quick grocery shopping when she woke up.  A Chick-fil-a dinner, an extra long bath, and some snuggling time ended our great day.  I love days like these.

A trip down memory lane (February 2010).

This girl always has something in her mouth - before I grabbed the camera she had the bar of soap in her mouth and didn't seem to mind the taste.

Hope everyone had a great Saturday too!

My 15 Month Old

Kate is now 15 months old and has developed into a toddler.  I asked Justin to take her to her 15 month appointment since I knew shots were involved and he said she did great.  I also asked for him to bring home the stats paper - but that was left at the doctor's office so all I know is she's 21 pounds (20th percentile), her height is in the 20th percentile and her head circumference is in the 40th percentile.

I love seeing the new things Kate learns each day.  She has learned to give you "high five" and "sugar" (kiss).  Some of her new words include "no",  a version of "thank you" I'm not sure how to spell, "cheese" "kitty", and "this".  I realized the other day when I ask her to smile at the camera she closes her eyes and grins.

Some of her favorite foods include grapes, raisins, craisins (notice a pattern?), animal crackers and graham crackers, pizza, and cheese.  She still loves bath time, playing outside and reading her books (her favorite is Good Morning, Good Night).  Kate is still sleeping great, from 7pm until 7am, and taking one early afternoon nap.  Her "kitty" is still her constant companion and nothing seems to make her feel better faster than Kitty (sadly, not even me  Since we now only allow Kate to have her pacifier at nap time, bedtime and the occasional worship service, I hear her jabbering all day long.  I would love to know what she is talking about.
I don't have any professional pictures to share of Kate, but the other night I took a couple pictures before bedtime.  That is my favorite part of each day because it's when Kate lets me snuggle with her.  I turn out her room lights and she immediately reaches for me to pick her up.  With Kitty in one hand, she lays her head on my shoulder and we just sway back and forth.  I love it!  Then daddy will come in before I lay Kate down to say our prayers together.  It doesn't get much better than that.

"Put that camera down and help me!"
I love the side profile pictures - check out that belly!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  I have so much to be thankful for, but to be honest, 2010 wasn't the best year for me.  It has taken me the last 12 months to cope with the fact that I have to work - but I also realize I can make things harder than they have to be.  I kept thinking it would get easier, but it doesn't - so now I just try to deal with it.  There will be a few new challenges in 2011, but I'm going to try to take them one at a time.

Our first new challenge: Justin is officially working at LM2 Consulting starting today.  Normally a new job isn't a financial burden but this one is.  I was expecting him to receive one more paycheck this month, but the boss decided he didn't need him for an additional 2 weeks, so there went that money.  Since LM2 Consulting is a new company, Justin has tried to prepare me for little or no income the first 6 months.  Yikes.

Despite our recently reduced income levels, I am looking forward to my first girls weekend since Kate was born!  Friday after work I'm heading to St. Augustine with Natasha (one of long time friends who currently lives in Australia with her husband), Rebekah and Mailin.  Rebekah's parents were gracious to give us a timeshare so we are staying for free!  Can't beat that.  Rebekah said she really needed a girls weekend and I couldn't agree more - it's so therapeutic.

Friday needs to hurry up and get here!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
