A Visit to Roberts

This afternoon Ms. Katie invited us to see her classroom (she teaches First Grade at Roberts Elementary School).  Since tomorrow is the first day of school, Katie has been up there getting everything ready and all I can say is the classroom looks fabulous!

The First Grade Playground - fancy!  I think it's crazy there are separate playgrounds.

Kate checking out the classroom pet - Princess the rabbit.

Before leaving we made a quick visit to see Ms. Mailin's class who is teaching Fourth Grade this year at Roberts.  Good luck tomorrow Ms. Katie and Ms. Mailin!  Your students are so blessed to have the two of you as teachers.

11 Months Old!

Only one more month before my little girl turns one - ahhh!  Kate is getting more strong willed and independent every day (I wonder where she gets that from??).  Her vocabulary now includes Mama, Dada, Uh-Oh and Bye Bye (and waves).  She also has 7 teeth today, probably 8 tomorrow.  I had no idea they could get this many teeth so quickly.  She has 4 on the top (the middle two finally popped through) and 3 on the bottom, with one of the way.  Some of her new favorite activities include tossing toys/food, laying on the floor and playing with our fake fur blanket, and pushing her walker around the house until she crashes (runs into something and can't move it).

I can (barely) get a bow in her hair now!  Now if she will just keep it in....
Kate's new favorite blanket.

I couldn't resist!

Reading bedtime stories together.

My goal now is start looking for birthday decorations.

Play Date with Audrey

Ms. Audrey came over Saturday afternoon to play with Kate while her Mommy and Daddy were busy moving their things into a bigger house.  It was so much fun watching these two playing together - Audrey would chase Kate, Kate would chase Audrey, and back and forth it went.  I was surprised at how much they interacted with each other - best of friends already.

Kate eating her first french fry - thankfully Audrey was willing to share.
Audrey had a great time playing in the exersaucer.
Silly me thought Kate would still go down for a nap even though Audrey was over.  Needless to say that didn't happen.  After she played in her room for almost an hour, I gave up and put Audrey in the crib with her.  Here's a glimpse of the fun:

Come back soon Ms. A!

FSU Fan Day

Sunday afternoon we went to the Civic Center for FSU Fan Day.  Katie and Jordan invited us to go with them since they were going to see Katie's sister, Libby (an FSU cheerleader). I think most fans go to get autographs from the players and coaches, but we decided to skip the long lines and just get pictures with the cheerleaders.
Group shot.  Kate did not like Libby's pom-poms.

I think she had a good time at Fan Day 2010!  Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Olk for the great pictures!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Saturday was my dad's birthday and we had a great time celebrating on Friday night.  My grandmother, Jordan, Katie, Justin, Kate and I all went over to my parents house for some hamburgers and a family game night.

Kate and her Grandaddy!

We hope you had a great birthday Grandaddy!

9 Month Stats

Since Kate was sick this weekend and I took her into her regular doctor - I remembered to ask for her 9 month stats!  Here they are - my little girl is moving up the growth chart fast (well, except for her height).

Height: 27.5 inches, 25th percentile
Weight: 17 lbs 13 oz, 45th percentile
Head Circumference: 43.5 cm, 40th percentile

Sick Baby

Kate had a big weekend which included being sick.  Friday night, Mrs. Rachel came over for a visit to see Kate before she moves back to France to work on her Masters.  We will miss you (again) Mrs. Rachel but we hope you have a great time!

Saturday, we met Mrs. Betsy for pictures and then Kate and I were invited over the Harbison's house to swim!  It was so nice to hang out with Erin for a couple hours and of coarse Kate entertained everyone.  We left the Harbison's in time for Kate to get her afternoon nap before Mailin, Jessica, Rebekah and Michelle came over for a girl's game night.  Justin went to his buddy's birthday party so us girls had the house to ourselves.

Sunday is when Kate really started feeling bad.  Papa commented she felt hot that morning, but I didn't think anything about it.  We went to lunch with the Reavis and Goram families at Red Elephant (can't get enough of that place!) and when we got home, that's when I realized Kate was running a 103.1 fever.  Poor baby.
I stayed home with Kate that night and was debating on what to do - take her to Urgent Care or just wait until the morning.

I told her God would send me a sign and a couple minutes later, she threw up on me - so there was my sign.  But, this is really the first time Kate has been sick so Justin and I have been very blessed. Side note - apparently it's normal for little ones to run higher fevers. If the fever gets to 103.5 or higher and does not respond to medicine, that's when it's urgent and the child needs to be seen immediately. Thankfully Kate's fever always responded to the combination of Tylenol and Motrin we gave her around the clock.

So far she has been fever free since last night so I'm hoping it will stay that way she we can all get back to our normal routines. I know Kate misses her friends at daycare.  The one good thing about this is that I have been able to catch up on the blog!

"9 Month" Pictures at Dorothy B Oven Park

Early Saturday morning, Kate and I met Mrs. Betsy at Dorothy B Oven Park to take her 9 month pictures.  Kate is really 10 months old (it took Betsy and I a couple weeks to get together) but I decided to go ahead with the pictures since Kate will change again before her first birthday.  It was misereably hot at 8am, but Betsy managed to get some great pictures.  We quickly learned containing Kate in a basket was easier than trying to get her to sit still on her own (ha!).

One of my favorites:

We were wrapping up the photo shoot and noticed this little fountain on our way to the car - the water was ice cold and Kate loved it!

Thank you Mrs. Betsy for the wonderful photos!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
