Ready for Halloween

Kate has been practicing all week for trick-or-treating. We picked out her pink pumpkin at Walmart and she has toted it around the house everyday since. I think she's ready for Sunday night!

First Family Pumpkin Carving

Last night, Justin carved the pumpkin we bought last weekend at the pumpkin patch.  We all went outside and he got to work while I chased Kate all around the deck.

The finished product!
We lit the pumpkin just before Kate went to bed so she could see it.

Side note - while we were outside, I took a picture of our brand new air conditioner.  Our old air conditioner quit working last Wednesday night and our new one was installed Monday.  Thankfully we had nice weather all weekend so it wasn't too bad being without air.  Justin and I are so blessed to have had an emergency fund to cover this unexpected expense.  But hopefully it will help us sell the house faster whenever it goes on the market!

Sleeping Beauty

Last night, Justin went in to check on Kate before we went to bed and here is what he saw:
She fell asleep "reading" her book.

Sweet dreams Kate!

The Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend, Betsy was doing mini sessions at the Pumpkin Patch and unfortunately we missed our opportunity since we were out of town for the family reunion. I was determined to get a picture this year so Saturday morning, Justin and I took Kate to the Pumpkin Patch to take some pictures and pick out a pumpkin. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed in the pictures - I can't blame it all on my photographer (Justin) because Kate was not cooperating either. The first part Justin couldn't figure out the camera settings to offset the harsh sunlight and once he did, Kate just ran away or refused to look at us.

 My Little Pumpkin

Whee!  This is what she did most of the time we were there - running up and down the pumpkin aisles.

Right after this picture, Kate's bottom slide off the bench and she was wedged in this position (folded in half) - she didn't think it was funny.

And to bring back memories - here we were a year ago....

Roberts Fall Festival

Thursday night Gigi, Kate and I went to the Roberts Elementary Fall Festival, where Aunt Katie and Mailin work. Kate has gotten to the age where if she gets out of the stroller once, she will not go back in without a fight. We didn't stay too long since someone spent most of their time chasing Kate, but it was fun to check out the excitement.

Mailin took Kate on the slide, but she wasn't sure what to think of it - the second time down she burst into tears.

Duck!

Monday night Kate said her first clear word - duck!  She has said Dada, Mama, and Bye-Bye but this is the first time she has said a "real word".  I grin every time she says it and I hear her little voice. I was able to catch it on video tonight.

I thought once Kate turned one, I wouldn't feel like she was changing so fast - but that hasn't been the case.  The first year I was adapting to her physical changes, looking different everyday.  But now I'm so surprised at her intellectual development.  She is starting to follow directions like "come here", "give that to Mommy" or "don't do that".  She enjoys laying on the kitchen floor, pulling out the Moho sauce out of the refrigerator, and reading books.  I was even surprised today when she sat down and drank her milk.

Kate wearing her new tennis shoes we bought her this weekend and the shirt Papa got her from Mount Rushmore.

She looks so grown up in her boot cut jeans and big girl shoes.

Happy Birthday Uncle Jordan!

Yesterday was Uncle Jordan's 25th birthday.  My parents invited us over for dinner along with Nanny, Katie, and her parents.  None of my pictures turned out and I'm dissapointed I didn't get a picture of Kate and the birthday boy - but I'll still wish him a Happy Birthday!

Evers Family Reunion

Kate and I attended our first Evers Family Reunion this weekend.  Since I had worked the past two weekends, I was less than thrilled to be going out of town, but we agreed to go so we could see Justin's grandparents.  After it was too late to back out, I found out the reunion was in Wauchula, FL - approximately 6 hours away.  Ugh.   It turned out to be a nice trip.  We drove down to Orlando Friday night, did some shopping Saturday morning and then headed to Lake Placid where we stayed with Pat and Sharon Talbot - good friends of Justin's parents.  Sunday morning was the reunion where I met all the extended Evers family - Justin's grandfather's four sisters and all their families.  I think we were the only family there with the last name Evers.  Lamar made the point that Justin and his cousin John are the only two Evers men left to carry on the family name so the pressure is on for us to have a boy.  Unfortunately Justin's grandparents were not able to come at the last minute, but I'm still glad we were able to go. I'm sure we'll be there next year!

Happy Anniversary - to me!

Thursday night Justin and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary!

I have had a rough couple weeks at work, working late and on the weekends, so it was nice to enjoy a relaxing dinner.  I wish Justin and I could go on a week long trip each year like we did for our first anniversary, but maybe next year.  Happy Anniversary to me!

David and Brittany's Shower

Last Sunday, I helped mom and a couple ladies from church host David and Brittany's wedding shower at mom's house. I had to work all day Saturday so I wasn't able to help as much as I wanted, but it turned out beautifully!

The happy couple with Mrs. Covan (David's mom).
We are excited about the wedding next Saturday - October 23rd will be here before they know it!

Fun Friday night at the Sapps

Sadly, I have been working the past two weekends so I haven't had much time to update the blog lately.  Last Friday night, we were invited over to the Sapp's for a wonderful BBQ dinner along with the Reavis family and David Covan and his fiancee, Brittany.  Emeline was so excited to see Audrey and Kate.  She kept the little girls busy - playing inside, playing outside, back inside to play in her room, back outside again, etc.  Whew.

The best group shots I could get.  Nolan went to bed early and missed all the fun.
We had a great time and can't wait for us all to get together again soon!

I would love to....

be one of Katie's bridesmaids!  Thursday night Katie surprised me with a gift and here is what was inside:

Isn't it adorable?  I am so excited (and honored) to be a bridesmaid!  It was hard not to eat the cookie on the way home from our workout class, but I had motivation knowing I needed to take a picture to post on the blog.

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
