Easter Weekend 2013

This has been one of the busiest Easter weekends we have had in a long time but it was one of the best!  It was so sweet to celebrate Mason's first Easter and to watch Kate have so much fun.  Our weekend kicked off Saturday morning with the church egg hunt out at the Centerville Conservation clubhouse.  The Silver Circle group at church hosted it so all we had to do was show up with our little egg hunters.

Mason stayed with Gigi and Granddaddy while daddy and I helped Kate hunt eggs.

 Mason's first Easter egg hunt!

After the egg hunt, we all went over to Gigi and Granddaddy's house later that afternoon for another egg hunt and cookout.  Kate dyed Easter eggs before dinner (with our help) and she even had some competition in the egg hunt since mommy, daddy, Uncle Jordan and Aunt Katie all hunted for eggs.  There was one golden egg hidden and guess who found it?!  Me!  I guess we know who Kate got her egg hunting skills from.

After dinner, Kate opened several Easter treats from Gigi and Granddaddy, Uncle Jordan and Aunt Katie, and Nanny.  Everyone was so good to her - she is set with clothes, sandals, coloring books, bubbles, games and sticker books.  Mason also had some Easter treats that included a book, clothes, and a hat.  Last week, we celebrated an early Easter with Mimi and Papa and the kids got Easter treats from them too! Kate and Mason are so blessed to have such a wonderful family that loves them very much!

Sunday morning, everyone got up early and Kate saw what the Easter bunny had dropped of:  Two new puzzles, M&M eggs, the Candy Land game, two new color wonder coloring books (she can go through a book a week easily), and a Lalaloopsey horse.

 My sweet boy.

After we opened presents, we went to church and then headed over to the University Club for lunch with the Olk family.  That is something I look forward to each year so like Justin said today, only 364 more days until next year.  Last year, I was miserably sick and Justin was out of town, so it had been two years since we had last been to Easter lunch with the Olks.

And guess who was the only brave one to see the Easter bunny?  Kate was so scared to even look at him, so I don't have a picture of her anywhere near the Easter bunny for the second year in a row.  Maybe next year...

To wrap up our Easter celebration, I invited the whole family over for one last Easter dinner at our house.  Mimi and Papa, Nanny, my parents, Aunt Katie and Uncle Jordan and the Mundie family all came over!  Kate enjoyed having Maddox and Maclain over and since we had the egg hunters, we had to have one last egg hunt! Daddy stuffed all the eggs last night with candy so this afternoon, he hid all the eggs with help from Mr. Daniel and Uncle Jordan.  They hid 50 eggs and every single one of them were found!  I missed the opportunity to get pictures of everyone, but I did get a couple of the cutest little egg hunters!

 Happy Easter!

GSA Egg Hunt 2013

This morning was Kate's Easter program and egg hunt at her school.  Daddy and Mason stayed home (it was freezing!), but Gigi was able to meet us and join in the fun.  When we first arrived, the parents went upstairs to the church's auditorium, and the kids came in and sang songs and listened to the story of Easter.  This is the very first program since Kate has been attending that she actually participated in the program and she sang her little heart out.  I was so proud of her!

Can you tell she was excited?!
After the program upstairs, the parents/grandparents went downstairs to the classroom and enjoyed an Easter party.  The kids ate their snacks, showed the parents the Easter crafts they had made, and then bundled up to get ready for the egg hunt outside on the playground.

Getting ready to hunt some eggs!
There are 19 kids in her class and when the doors opened, 18 of them ran to the right and Kate took off to the left.  It was so funny to see her method of attack and it worked!  She found 40 eggs!
 She's off!

 My professional egg hunter.

Wow!  At the end of the hunt, she asked me to carry her bucket because it was too heavy.
We had a great time this morning and we can't wait for three more egg hunts that are coming up this weekend.
Our motto is the more egg hunts, the better!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
