Kate and Justin have been miserable for the past couple days with a bad stomach bug. I have been trying to avoid it like the plague but today I haven't felt the best. Since Justin has been in bed most of the day today, I have had the bulk of the responsibility taking care of Kate. Thankfully she took a fantastic three hour nap this afternoon so we were all able to get some needed rest. After she got up, I was still lacking energy and was laying on the couch when Kate sat in her seat all by herself, held her kitty and watched the Dr. Oz show for 30 minutes. One of her favorite things to do lately is to sit in her bumpo seat - and it is the cutest thing watching her get into it. She has two approaches, either going feet first and sliding down, or she stands in front and backs into it. The last one if my favorite. Every time I see her do it I'm so tempted to say "beep, beep, beep".

It's Official!
Jordan and Katie got engaged last night! I was honored to be a part of the scheming although it was a little stressful making sure Katie believed the story. I told her a couple weeks ago we were going to take family pictures at Maclay Gardens and I wanted Jordan and Katie to be in them. Mom and Dad left a car so it appeared like they were already there and Jordan lead her down into the gardens and proposed by the lake! Katie's parents, sister, and godmother along with my parents, Kate and I were waiting for the happy couple at Bella Bella to celebrate their engagement.
The happy couple.
Our expanding family - minus Justin who was at home, sick in bed.
Congrats Jordan and Katie!

1st Birthday Party
We had a great day yesterday celebrating Kate's birthday and there are so many pictures to share! Mailin met me early Saturday morning to help set up for the party - thanks again Mailin!
One of the adorable gifts from Mrs. Betsy!
The special birthday project (Kate's photo banner) turned out wonderful!

After opening presents, Kate tasted her first cake!
Kate was hesitant to try the cake, but she took a couple bites of icing and decided she was done. After cake, we all went out to the garage for the pinata. All the little ones had a bag, ready to fill it up with candy!
Brock and Koby went right to work picking up their candy.
Ms. Audrey couldn't wait to open a piece of candy.
Kate decided she would observe so Ms. Emeline was excited to gather Kate's candy for her. Once everyone had their candy, Mrs. Betsy suggested we try a group shot of all the kids.

I also took some pictures of the gifts Kate received - she is so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family!
Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate Kate's first birthday!

Happy Birthday Kate!
My little girl is one year old today. All day I was thinking about where Justin and I were one year ago - in the hospital with our little bundle of love. It has been such an emotional day for me, I tear up every time I think about Kate and how much she has changed this past year.

I took off today and had a wonderful time spending all day with Kate. We spent most of the day running errands for the big party tomorrow. She had an early morning doctor's appointment and got a good report. She is in the 20% percentile for height (28 1/4 inches) and weight (18 lbs 15 oz) and is in the 45% percentile for head circumference (44.7 cm). Kate has just moved up to size 3 diapers and she is wearing size 12 month clothes. I'm shopping around for a "big girl" (convertible) car seat since she is quickly out growing her infant car seat.
Sitting in the waiting room at the doctor's office.

No shots today, but we have to go back next week. I was afraid Kate wouldn't feel good for her party tomorrow so I decided to schedule a separate shot appointment. My next goal is to transition Kate to whole milk and a sippy cup.
Tonight we had a wonderful family dinner at Old Town Cafe to celebrate Kate's birthday. She wore her adorable birthday dress and was a very sweet girl during dinner. We managed to keep her entertained between the 9 of us.
After dinner Kate and I opened a couple gifts.
Ms. Katie and Uncle Jordan gave Kate an adorable pair of brown shoes with bows, a diaper cover with her name monogrammed and a fantastic new fall dress! I'm so excited for Kate to wear her new outfit.
Gigi and Grandaddy also brought Kate something to open tonight, a toy cell phone, which she immediately held up to her ear. She had several phone calls to make during dessert.
