GSA Fall Festival

This morning, Good Samaritan had their fall festival and costume parade!  We have had the kid's costumes picked out since early September and poor Kate has been counting down the days until Halloween.  I have often been asked each morning, "Is it Halloween yet?" She was so excited that today was the day she was finally able to wear her costume!  Kate chose to be a mermaid for Halloween and Mason is a pirate (notice a theme?).  I lucked into these costumes over labor day weekend while we were Old Navy (who is thinking about Halloween at Labor Day?! Not me).  Kate immediately fell in love with the mermaid costume (and I was shocked she hasn't had a change of heart since then) and I quickly noticed the pirate costume there too for Mason.  Although I love Halloween, I can't stand picking out costumes since it can be stressful!

Gigi met me at school this morning and I was glad to have the company since I have been sick with a stomach bug.  I wasn't feeling good, but I was determined I wasn't going to miss the big party.

This little pirate loves his Gigi.  We were both standing at the baby room door before the program started watching Mason play.  When he looked up and saw us, he locked his eyes on Gigi and toddled over to her, arms out stretched, walking right past me!

Kate and Sterling - best school friends since they were infants.  Kate was so excited they were both mermaids!

Kate and her classmates in their costumes.

We are looking forward to Halloween!  Only a week away!

Mason's First Haircut

This afternoon, daddy needed a haircut so we all went so Mason could get his first haircut!  He has been needing a haircut for a while, but for one reason or another it hasn't worked out for us to go until now.  Mason sat in Justin's lap and did fantastic!

 Sweet boy.

 After:
 So grownup looking.
 Handsome boys!

Mason is ONE!

Mason is ONE!
My sweet baby boy turned one year old on Saturday!  It has been an exciting year watching him grow.  He is still in size 4 diapers but about to move up to size 5.  He wears 18 month clothes (except for a few 12 month pants/outfits) and wears size 3 shoes.  He still has 6 teeth and takes four formula bottles of 6 ounces each (7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm).  He goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes up around 7 each morning. Mason transitioned to one nap a day shortly after starting school, usually from 12:30-3 each day.  He goes down very easily at nap time and bedtime, as long as his ears are not infected.
The poor little guy still has the same double ear infections he has been trying to get over for a month now.  He is finishing up his fourth round of antibiotics and hopefully this last, more powerful antibiotic will do the trick.  I really do not want to put tubes in his ears.

Here are Mason's 12 month stats:
Height - 28 3/4 inches - 19%
Weight - 21 lbs, 3oz - 30%
Head Circumference - 47.3 cm - 80%
Mason is walking better and better each day and his little personality is shining through.  When he gets upset, the crocodile tears come streaming down his face and he folds himself in half, putting his head in between his legs.  It’s dramatic, funny and pitiful all at the same time.  However, he can usually be comforted in a matter of seconds, regardless of what has upset him.
Some of his favorite things include: playing with Kate, bath time, the musical aquarium in his crib, playing in the bathroom sink, riding in the car (ha ha – just kidding!), eating, and going to school.  His teacher at school calls him “my ballplayer” because Mason can throw a ball pretty well for his age/size.  Mason is also stronger than I realize.  Changing his diapers has become challenging lately since he likes to start rolling over, trying to get down.  Another challenge we have is strapping Mason into his car seat.  Whenever we open the door and start to put him in his seat, he immediately arches his back and uses his legs to push off the seat.  It might get easier once we switch his car seat around, but we’re going hold off on that for a little while longer.

I love seeing Mason’s sweet grin, hearing his precious laugh and snuggling with him.  He is such a wonderful blessing and I’m so thankful for him!
Thursday night, we invited our family to Old Town Cafe to celebrate Mason’s birthday. It was a quick dinner because the birthday boy started to get sleepy and grouchy, but we all had fun.  The only one missing was Uncle Jordan, who had to be out of town.

Mason wasn't sure what to think of everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to him.

The group pictures weren't the best, but at least I tried to capture the moment - ha!
Saturday was Mason’s first birthday party.  I was a little belated getting the invitations in the mail due to working long hours at work, but thankfully most of our friends were still able to come despite my late notice.  I have been exhausted leading up to this week but I wanted to put equal effort into Mason’s first birthday as I did for Kate’s first birthday.

Thank you Gigi for making the adorable photo banner!

Still not sure about everyone singing "Happy Birthday".
He wasn't no time digging into his smash cake.

Loving his birthday cake!  He has a sweet tooth like his mamma.
Party pictures just wouldn't be complete without a few tears from Mason.

He decided to try his cake again once I cut him off a small piece.

 But the tears started again.
 Opening presents...

Mason enjoyed opening presents (and so did Kate).

Blessed boy.

Before the party ended, I tried to take a group picture of all the kids.  Thank you to all the parents who amused me for a group photo...it's actually not that bad.
Left to Right:  Miller, Maddox, Maclain, Brent, Elijah, Camden, Koby (who's facial expression says it all), Kate, Mason, Audrey, Sawyer, Brooks and Peyton and Landon (trying to escape the chaos) up front.

Since I was on such a roll with the group photo (kidding), I attempted to take a picture of the boys who were all born this past year...
Left to right: Brent, Landon, Mason and Camden.

 Happy 1st Birthday Mason!
We love you!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
