Last night we went over to Mark, Jennifer, and Brock Butts house and had a great time. Kate did great, despite getting shots yesterday afternoon. Brock was so excited about "Baby Kate" (aka "Pretty Baby") coming over to play - he pulled out all his trucks for her to play with. She did great while we ate dinner - we put her on the floor and she played while the rest of us ate (thank goodness). After our dinner of grilled chicken and roasted vegetables (um!), we had the best dessert made with apples, crescent rolls, cinnamon sugar, and Mountain Dew - wow. There are few fruit desserts that I like, but this was so good! I'm going to have to get a copy of that recipe. Around 8:30 pm, I swaddled Kate up and laid her on the couch where she slept most of the night until the adults woke her up after being too loud - we were playing the card game Phase 10 - which I won! Woo hoo.
Kate is still sleeping this morning - I think she is exhausted from yesterday and all the excitement last night.

4 Month Checkup
Kate went to the doctor yesterday for her 4 month checkup. Here are her stats:
Weight: 12 lbs, 11 oz (30% percentile)
Height: 23 1/4 inches (20% percentile)
Head Circumference: 40.3 cm (35% percentile)
She also had to get another round of shots which was so sad. She gobbled down the rotovirus vaccine (she hated it the first time, but she was hungry this time) and when the nurse took it away she starting crying. But the saddest part was when they gave her the three shots in her leg - her face turned bright red, tears started flowing, but no sound was coming out - until she caught her breath. Poor thing! After her shots, I gave her a bottle and I think that helped her feelings.

First Basketball Game
Kate went to her first basketball game last night. Uncle Jordan was playing on one of the Timberlane teams and it happened to be that last night both Timberlane teams were playing each other. We didn't get too many smiles out of Kate but she was content. After she got over the inital shock of the loud gym, she watched the basketball game and chewed on her pacifier and pacifier holder.
Leaving for the game

Daycare Fun
Here are some pictures Mrs. Betsy sent of the babies - too cute not to post. I was showing them off at work and had several comments of how similar Madison and Kate look (but I think most bald, chubby check, blue eyed babies look similar).

Rolling over?
This morning I put Kate on her tummy to play like she normally starts off the day and walked into the kitchen. When I came back, she was on her back looking up at me. I'm wondering if it was a fluke, or if she is starting to learn how to roll over. She has rolled from tummy to back a few times in the past, but she was upset and arching her back so I never counted that. But this morning she wasn't upset, until I tried to put her back on her tummy to see if she would/could roll over again.

Spend the Night
Sunday night Kate stayed with my parents overnight. They took her to church and Mom said Kate was a good girl Sunday night and Monday morning. Justin and I went out with Natasha, Rhys, Rebekah and Mailin for one last outing before Natasha and Rhys left the states to go back home. We went to dinner at Red Elephant (one of my favorites!) and then went to see a movie. The group went to see Book of Eli, but about 10 minutes into that movie Rebekah and I left and went to see Leap Year instead. I can't believe we have to pay $9.75 for a movie now. It's almost cheaper for Justin and I to buy the movie instead of going to the movie theatre.
One of my favorite outfits on Kate!
4 months old
Sunday, Kate was 4 months old. She has recently discovered her hands and Sunday she started to reach for her feet. Her 4 month appointment isn't for another 2 weeks, but I'm eager to see if/when they start her on cereal. She is also grabbing for toys and putting them in her mouth to chew. Some of her favorite toys to play with right now are her links, Sophie the giraffe, her taggie blanket and she is really enjoying tummy time. I spent last night going through all her clothes. I'm slowly putting up 0-3 months and starting to pull out her 3-6 month outfits. My little baby is growing too fast!
She's not pulling up yet- I was holding her up. :)
Kate loves to play with her Koala bear.

A visit from Natasha and Rhys
Last night Mailin, Natasha and Rhys came over to see Kate and hang out with Justin and I - of coarse Kate wouldn't look at the camera when I was actually taking the picture. I hope Natasha and Rhys will move back to the States soon because we miss them!

Lunch at Friday's
Sunday after church we went to lunch at TGI Friday's with Rob, Sarah, and Peyton Mullinax and Raymond, Tracy and Audrey Reavis. We were hoping Kate would sleep through lunch but she was Ms. Bright Eyes for a little bit and then went to sleep with a little car seat rocking. Audrey fell asleep on the short ride to the resturant and Peyton isn't in the picture because her parents were riding around until she went to sleep.
Splish Splash, Kate's taking a Bath
Kate was having a blast in the bathtub earlier this week and I couldn't help but take some pictures. If you stand too close to Kate's tub you're likely to be in the splash zone.
Play date with Madelyn
Last Saturday Kate had a play date with Madelyn. Her parents, Erik and Mary, used to live next door to us for a short time. It's funny because they got married a month before Justin and I did in 2006 and we had Kate a month before Madelyn was born. They are a great couple and fun to hang out with so we invited them over so the girls could "play". Madelyn had some tummy time and eventually fell asleep on the boppy. Hopefully Kate and Madelyn can get together again soon.
Back to Work
This week was my first week back to work. I had a bad day Sunday because I was dreading Monday, but I'm trying to focus on my blessings since I get to work part time for a couple months (at least that's the plan). Monday went better than I expected and Justin is enjoying his quality time with Kate in the afternoons. I drop Kate off at Betsy's around 1:00 and I work from 1:30-5:30 right now. Justin gets off work at 3:30 and picks Kate up around 4. Today they spent most of the day together since Justin was off and I went into work at 10 am. Looking forward to the (COLD) weekend.
Here are a couple pictures from today. I realized Kate hadn't worn her Boston Red Sox onesie yet so we had to put it on and take some pictures. The position in her swing is new - it looks extremely uncomfortable, but she will stay like that for several minutes. She also tries to look backwards when she's on the floor too. Crazy girl!

Daddy's Back!
Justin just returned from Mississippi after hunting there since Sunday. Kate and I stayed at Gigi and Grandaddy's house for the past 5 nights and had a great time. I'm sad because the new year means I'm going back to work, which will be a huge adjustment for me, but I think Kate is going to enjoy playing with her friends at Mrs. Betsy's house. Justin got into town after midnight Thursday night and missed Kate's first New Years Eve, but she went to bed at her normal time (9:30pm) and missed it too.

Kate's First Christmas
Kate's first Christmas has come and gone and it was so fun. Uncle Evan, Aunt Melanie, and cousins Erin (10) and Ryan (6) came into town for Christmas and Kate got to meet them for the first time. We had Christmas Eve at my grandmother's house, Christmas morning with my family, ate a huge breakfast, went over to Justin's parents house for the rest of Christmas Day and had a big steak dinner with both families that night. Some of the gifts Kate got were a couple toys, outfits and money for her savings account. Mommy and Daddy got a video camera and a new roof on the house for our Christmas gift. Kate also spent the night for the first time with Aunt Melanie that Saturday night which was a huge step for me, but I knew she was in good hands. Overall we had a great first Christmas with Kate - who is the best Christmas present ever!
Winter Festival Parade
This year Justin, Kate and I went to the winter parade with Uncle Jordan and his friend Katie. Katie lives on North Monroe so we had a fantastic view of the parade from her (warm) apartment! The five of us walked around downtown before the parade started and then headed up to Katie's apartment just in time for the parade. It worked out perfectly with Kate being able to watch the parade from inside since it was freezing that night and Kate's Christmas tutu wasn't warmest thing to wear, but it was too cute!
