Mason's Newborn Pictures

Mason had his newborn pictures a couple weeks ago with Mrs. Betsy, who did a great job! Althought he cried the entire way to her house, he settled down once we got there and was ready for his photo shoot. A couple hours later (I forget how long pictures can take with an infant), here is what Betsy was able to capture:

This is the picture I used for Mason's announcement.
It reminded me of the picture I used for Kate's announcment:

and back to Mason's pictures...

So handsome!
It took Betsy a little while to get Mason to settle down for this shot, but I love it!

And here's a couple pictures I took over the past couple weeks...

Love him!

Happy Halloween 2012

I can't believe Halloween has already come and gone, but we had a great time as always this year. The first big event was the costume parade at Good Samaritan the Thursday before Halloween. Kate decided to go as Cinderella and looked beautiful. It was a great costume for me since we already had everything so no shopping for a costume was required (whew!). Daddy kept Mason and Kate and I went to school that morning for the parade and fall party.

The Sunday before Halloween, Timberlane had the annual Trunk-or-Treat event. Kate's Cinderella crown broke right before we left so she insisted on a costume change - Wonder Woman but she called it "Star Woman". Gigi watched Mason for us while we enjoyed Trunk-or-Treat.

Halloween night we tried something new - a hayride!  The Reavis', Mundies and Uncle Jordan and Aunt Katie joined us for a quick dinner before going trick-or-treating in my parent's neighborhood.  Matt Sapp came up with the idea to bring his four wheeler and trailer and filled it with hay for the kids.  It was a perfect night.  The weather was cool and the kids loved the hayride.  They drove for a little bit, stopped to unloaded the kids to visit a few houses, and then loaded them up again.

Hope everyone had as good of a Halloween as we did!

Mason Justin Evers

He’s here!   Mason Justin Evers was born October 19th, 2012 at 9:48pm.  He weighed 9 pounds even and was 19 ¾ inches long – a big boy!  Everything went great with labor and delivery and we are enjoying our sweet little bundle of joy.
It is such a relief to not be pregnant anymore. I was miserable at the very end and every time I look at my profile picture the day of my doctor’s appointment, I cringe. Friday, October 19th we had another doctor’s appointment and we had decided earlier in the week to just be induced that day since Kate would be in school – thinking it would only take a couple hours for Mason to be born.
We went to my appointment as scheduled and were sent to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital from there, around 10:30am. When we arrived, my mom and dad met us in the waiting room and we all waited while they worked on the paperwork to admit me. Around 11:30 or so we got into a room (actually the room right next door to where I was when I delivered Kate) and I got hooked up to monitors. Sheridan (the midwife) promised not to break my water until I had my epidural in place so the waiting began for the anesthesiologist. After a couple hours, my epidural was in place and then we waited once again for Sheridan to come in and break my water. Apparently, that Friday was a busy day to have a baby.
My water was broken around 3:00 in the afternoon and we waited once again for labor to begin. When it didn’t progress, I received pitocin to get the contractions to become more intense and closer together. The afternoon turned into evening and hour after hour passed without much action. I had plenty of great company with me in the room – my parents, the Evers, Uncle Jordan and Aunt Katie, and Kate joined the party around 5:00.
Finally around 9:30 or so our Sheridan came in to check me, and quickly had to jump into action. She had asked Justin if he wanted to assist in the delivery earlier that afternoon so both of them rushed to get scrubs on in time since Mason was coming whether they were ready or not. My mom, Aunt Katie, and Marilyn were all in the room so Mason had a big welcoming party when he made his grand entrance.Daddy did get a great job delivering him and I’m so glad he had the opportunity to do that – how neat!
Waiting on Mason...

My sweet girl - she was so well behaved in the hospital, considering she was there from 5:00pm to almost midnight.  Thank goodness Aunt Katie brought her iPad - a lifesaver!

 Love at first sight.

 So handsome in his scrubs.
 Sheridan, our midwife.

And pictures of the proud family...

I love how bright-eyed Mason is in this picture with my dad.

I owe a huge thank you to Aunt Katie to taking so many pictures that day!
My sleepy boys.

We didn't decide on a name until Saturday (the day after Mason was born) and once it was decided, we called the Social Security people immediately and made it official before either one of us could have second thoughts. Several friends told me the name would "come to us" but that didn't happen like I had hoped.  There were several contenders (too many) but we finally narrowed it down to two names - Trent or Mason (the only two Justin and I could both agree on) and guess who made the final decision?  Big sister!  We asked her which one she liked and she said Mason.

Kate loves her little brother, but she doesn't pay him much attention right now.  I'm thankful she's not jealous, but it's interesting watching her reaction to him.  She gives him a kiss every morning when she wakes up and every evening before bed, but other than that she doesn't bother him.  Mason looks just like Kate did and both kids look like their daddy.

Don't they look alike?

It's been an adjustment going back to having a newborn - sleepless nights, trying to interpret cries, and learning how to change a little boy - but it's all worth it.

Happy Birthday Uncle Jordan!

Happy Birthday Uncle Jordan!  I wish I could have celebrated with the rest of the family tonight, but I'm not venturing out of the house this week since I'm so far along and don't want to get caught in an awkward public situation if this baby decides to come!

Jordan, I hope you have a wonderful birthday.  I guess one my presents to you will be not to have our baby on your birthday.  Otherwise you might retaliate and have yours on my birthday!  Just kidding, I would be happy to share.

Aunt Katie and Gigi sent me a couple pictures from the evening - here's one of the birthday boy with Kate.  We love you Uncle Jordan!

A Much Needed Update

I guess it's about time I posted an update on our family!  In the past month, we were able to close our on new house early, moved in, and are now just waiting on baby brother now (and no, we still do not have a name finalized).

Kate has adjusted wonderfully to the new house.  I was worried she would ask to go back to Uncle Jordan and Aunt Katie's house, but she loves her new room and I think it has helped that she is able to play once again with all her toys.  Most of them had been packed up for several months so it's like Christmas to her.  She has been cooking up a storm in her play kitchen, strolling her babies all around the house, and even playing with some of baby brother's toys.  One of her favorite things right now is her princess dress.  She has told me she wants to wear it at Halloween so I hope that doesn't change!  She wears it as soon as she wakes up until it's time to leave for school, and then puts it back on as soon as she gets home from school.

Kate is also excited about all the pumpkins at this time of year.  Sunday, Gigi went with Kate and I to meet Mrs. Betsy at the Pumpkin Patch for pictures.  I tried to take a couple pictures before Mrs. Betsy got there and Kate fussed at me saying, "Mom!  I just wait on Mrs. Betsy to take my picture!".   Gigi bought a little pumpkin for Kate before we left (which rode with us in the car this morning to school) and she also bought a pumpkin for baby brother.  Here's a couple pictures from the photo shoot that Mrs. Betsy posted on her blog - I love them!

Now I've just got to sign up for a date to take our holiday photos - hard to believe we'll be a family of four this Christmas.

The last weekend in September, my cousin, Tiffany, and her family came down for a quick visit.  She is expecting another boy (their third!) in February and my other cousin, Kayla (Tiffany's sister) is expecting a baby in November (but they are waiting to find out the gender).  Lots of little babies will be arriving soon!  It was nice to see everyone and spend some time together and Kate had a blast playing with Andrew again.  The last time they had seen each other was at Uncle Jordan and Aunt Katie's wedding.

The next weekend was our big moving weekend.  God was looking out for Justin and I and we were able to close on our new house almost a week earlier than originally planned.  Everything fell into place at the last minute and it was all God's intervention. It made such a difference getting into the house on a Friday night instead of the scheduled Wednesday night.  We had so much help and I can not thank our friends and family enough for helping us move, clean, unpack, watch Kate, etc.  Anything that was needed was taken care of and we owe a lot of people many thanks!  As frustrating as it was at times to stay put in our little townhouse, moving into this new house has made it all worth it.  We were able to get a beautiful house at a price that didn't break our budget, didn't need any  repairs or renovations, and has so much room for us to grow into!

The only picture we took on moving day - couldn't resist since Kate, Gigi and Granddaddy were all in their FSU shirts.

I need to take pictures of the new house, but that will have to be a separate post.

In other news, here's a baby update.  I went to the doctor today and I am at 5.5 cm dilated.  My biggest concern is getting too far along to where I can't have an epidural.  But the midwife assured me I would have plenty of time, even at my current stage.  She offered to let me go into the hospital today, but I hesitated to not let nature take its course so I decided to wait until Friday.  If nothing happens before then, I was told I'll have the same option to be induced (all that means is that they will break my water) or I can wait again.

Justin said he hopes little man will come tomorrow - the 17th.  Justin and Kate both have birthdays on the 17th so we'll see what tomorrow holds.  I hadn't thought about it that way, but it would be neat if they all had that in common.  I'm just excited to see who he looks like - but I'm not going to be surprised if he resembles his daddy, just like his sister.

I haven't blogged much about being pregnant, but honestly there aren't many positive things I can say about it.  I am so much larger than I was with Kate and I'm carrying all out in front which makes this pregnancy so much more uncomfortable than my first one.  I'm getting to the point where I don't like to go in public.  I don't mind the stares, but it's the comments that strangers are making that are the most irritating.  I've heard so many rude comments and most of the time the person probably doesn't realize how it comes across, but it's annoying none the less.  I'm not carrying twins, I shouldn't be at the hospital, I'm due at any time, and yes - you won the bet with your co-worker, I'm carrying a boy.  Thank goodness this will soon be in the past.

The biggest differences I have noticed with this pregnancy was my sickness  (as bad or even worse than it was with Kate) and the overall discomfort, constant pressure in this last month, and the nerve and back pain in my third trimester.  For a week or so, because of the baby's position on my sciatic nerve, my leg would give out on me without warning and I would limp everywhere.  Thankfully, little man moved off my sciatic nerve and gave me some relief, but that was something I had never experienced before (nor do I want to experience again).  I lived on Tylenol during the 7th and 8th month and in this last month, it's been mainly the pressure that is so uncomfortable.  I need to have this baby soon because I'm down to only one or two outfits I can wear comfortably.

I officially started my maternity leave today (yea!) and it would be nice to have a couple days at home to rest before he comes, but he might have other plans.  I asked Justin to take a profile picture before my doctor's appointment this morning - poor mommy.

This blog post was one of the last things on my "to-do" list before the baby comes, so now I can relax!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
