Spring Season 2017: T-Ball and Softball

This spring, both kids decided to sign up for a sport!  Kate decided she wanted to play softball (her first year) and Mason asked to play t-ball (his first year).  Mason's team needed a coach, so I volunteered Uncle Jordan and Daddy was the assistant coach!  Sadly, at least half of Mason's games were at the same time as Kate's but all the family would divide and conquer on those nights so both kids had plenty of fans!
 Our munchkin t-ball player!

Camden was also on the team...I love this picture of him playing in the dirt.
Mason has done very well playing for the first time.  He has had a great attitude and tried hard in the field and batting.  He got several great hits and even made an out while playing second base!

Not much taller than the tee!

I overheard Mason telling Kate one morning before school, "Uncle Jordan said I was running so fast,                                               he saw smoke coming from my cleats".  Haha.
I'm going to miss these t-ball days!
When Kate wasn't playing, she was at Mason's game helping in some way.  She loved to coach first or third base and help with the batting line up.
So special that these two were able to play on the same team and have their dads coach!
Love these guys!

Last game! After the game, we treated the boys to pizza, cupcakes, and handed out trophies.  It was a fun night!
Our handsome boy!
Go Roberts Red Sox!  If you notice in the picture, their jerseys say "Reds".  Apparently the team was given the wrong jerseys and it was too late to change them so they were the Red Soxs aka the Reds.

This year, we switched Kate to softball since she had out grown the t-ball league.  I'm glad she started t-ball last year because it gave her a year to learn the basics while hitting off a tee.  This year, we focused on her skills - catching, fielding, hitting and throwing. In softball, the girls have coach-pitched games.  This was a challenge at first but Kate worked hard in batting practice.  There were a few times she got a bad attitude from striking out but we reminded her that she needed to stay upbeat and cheer on her friends.  There was one major meltdown in the first game and one in the last game but the games in between were great! We told Kate it was ok to get upset or be mad but then she had to get over it and move on.
Kate and Stella were on the same team this year!  Hopefully they can play together again next year!

By the end of the season, Kate worked hard to get in front of the ball.  In the last game, she made a fantastic play by scooping up a ball off a bounce and racing to second base where she beat the runner!
Catcher was one of Kate's favorite positions!  One game, the umpire didn't show up so Daddy was officiating while Kate caught.  They both did a great job!

 My favorite softball player!

 This girl lived for batting.

So proud of how hard she worked this season and how well she did playing softball for the first time.  She's a natural! I hope she continues to love playing because it was a lot of fun watching her play.
Our beautiful girl!
Go Jaguars!
 Last game!
So thankful for these two wonderful coaches.  Assistant Coach Ginny (left) is actually a friend from church and Coach Tanya was a great teacher!  Interesting fact...Coach Tanya's last name is Evers. :)  Kate learned a lot from these two coaches this season.  After the last game, they rented a private room at Lofty Pursuits and treated the team to pizza and ice cream.  It was a fun ending to a great season!
