4th of July 2014

This year we stayed in town for the 4th of July.  As much fun as it would have been to go somewhere for the weekend, it was nice to relax at home and enjoy our family time.  On Friday morning, we went swimming at the Olk's before dropping Mason off at my parent's house for a nap while we took Kate to see Rio 2 at the movie theater.  After the movie, we headed back to my parent's house for a cookout.
He looks cute, even in goggles.

I think I see a resemblance...
We had a small, but fun family cookout this year.

 Love them!
Mason's reaction when he heard fireworks (for the first time).

After dinner, we pulled out the sparklers and had some fun.  The kids were excited to light the sparklers and watch them burn.

Mason kept trying to blow it out like a candle.  Sorry buddy, these don't work like that.

And as quickly as the show started, it was over.  We didn't keep the kids up to watch fireworks this year...the sparklers almost sent them over the edge.  Maybe next year.

Happy 4th of July!
