We just got back from our family trip to the beach! We stayed at the same place as last year along 30A and had a great time, despite the less than ideal rainy weather all week. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the rain seemed to come at all the wrong times each day - mid morning, lunchtime, and mid afternoon. All our prime beach times!
On Saturday, we arrived around 5:00 eastern time and enjoyed a BBQ dinner at the house that evening. Sunday morning, we enjoyed breakfast at the Donut Hole, one of our favorite places at the beach!
Cooper had fun crawling all over the corn hole boards.
It started pouring when we left the restaurant but we had a family devotional back at the house while we waited on the rain to stop. Later that day, we enjoyed some fun at the pool!
On Monday, we tried our best to have a beach day but it seemed the weather was against us. The water was rough and there were yellow (strong current) and purple (marine life) flags out. We stayed for a couple hours until the rain storms forced us to pack up.
But before we left, we managed to take a couple pictures!
During the week, we spent as much time at the beach and pool as we could and filled in the rest of the time with shopping, reading, movies, naps and hanging out.
One evening, we were able to go to Boondocks for a wonderful seafood dinner! The rain stopped earlier that afternoon so we decided it would be a nice outing. Mason's teacher had asked him to bring back some shells for their classroom science center and we hit the jackpot at Boondocks. They had piles and piles of seashells out back of the restaurant so we picked out the best and got quite the assortment.
We enjoyed Boondocks!
Thank you Aunt Katie for taking this sweet picture of my kiddos!
One day while the girls were shopping, the guys all went bowling.
This was Mason's first time!
Another day, we were able to meet the Mundie's and swim with them at their pool for a couple hours. We were lucky that the Mundie's family beach week was the same week as ours!
Kate, Maclain, Mason, Maddox and Miller
One night for dinner, we ventured down to The Hub, a place where we had never been and Uncle Jordan and Aunt Katie recommended.
Enjoying the outdoors.
Another evening, Gigi and Granddaddy babysat all the kids while we went out for a date night. Jordan and Katie ended up eating at Red Bar and Justin and I headed to Pier Park where we enjoyed dinner at The Back Porch and did some shopping afterwards.
Date night!
On Thursday night, we drove over to Destin and went to the Crab Trap for dinner. This is another one of our favorite places to eat over in Destin. After dinner, we bribed the kids with the outdoor playground if they smiled for a few pictures. :)
I take this picture every year for my parents...
It's always one of my favorites.
Friday was our last full day and the most perfect beach day! Thank goodness we had at least one!
The water was calm and crystal clear!
Beach babes.
Sweet Cooper! He loved crawling from the baby pool and into the sand and back again.
Since the water was calm, Uncle Jordan brought their mini kayak for the kids to play on.
They're off!
But they didn't last long. After the boys had their short stint on the kayak, Kate took it for a spin and loved it.
Uncle Jordan and Daddy went out snorkeling that day to the sand bar and brought back a bunch of sand dollars!
Kate spent most of her time in the water trying to catch fish with the net and she managed to catch a little minnow! I tried my best to catch something too but wasn't quick enough.
That evening we all went over to Seacrest Beach and enjoyed dinner at Pizza by the Sea. Before we left, we took a picture of dad and all the kids and grand kids for Father's Day.
Saturday morning we got up bright and early and headed back to Tallahassee.
We had a wonderful time at the beach and are very appreciative for my parents helping make this trip happen!
Until next year!
