Aunt Mollie

On Saturday, we got a phone call with shocking news that Aunt Mollie had passed away unexpectedly in her sleep. I’m so thankful that we were just down there over Memorial Day weekend and were able to spend time with her.  It’s a painful reminder about how precious life is and how we should never take a moment for granted. We will miss Aunt Mollie so much. She welcomed me into the family with open arms.  She was always so sweet and thoughtful and carried the conversation at family dinners.  Her talkative personality was one of the things I loved about her because the rest of the Evers family is one of few words.  She would always bring the kids cookies and other treats whenever we saw her and sent the kids cards at every holiday with money for ice cream included.

I found a few pictures I have of Aunt Mollie over the years...
Aunt Mollie, Papa, Nene, Pa and Uncle Larry (December 2006)

and the most recent one I have:
My heart hurts knowing that she is gone.

We love you, Aunt Mollie.

Baby Sprinkle for Leslie

Father’s Day weekend, I hosted a baby sprinkle for the Reithmillers.  Leslie is expecting another boy in late July and as any parent knows, necessities are always welcomed – diapers, wipes, gift cards, etc. I sent out invitations and put an announcement in the bulletin and we had a wonderful turnout.
I decided to go with a blue and burlap theme - simple but pretty.  I found the perfect invitation on Etsy and made the door hanger below.

Very pleased with how it turned out.
One of the ladies at church made the name banner and brought it for me to use as decoration.  So cute!

Mom's hydrangea's were in full bloom - gorgeous!

We can’t wait to meet little Jacob!

A Busy Weekend – Daddy’s Birthday, Father’s Day and a Family Visit!

The weekend prior to Justin's birthday, I had taken the kids shopping for birthday & Father’s day gifts While we were shopping for daddy at Bass Pro (where else?!), they had a special fishing pool set up for kids to take a turn holding a fishing pole and hopefully catch a fish.  Neither kid had any luck but they still got a certificate!
The Friday of Father's Day weekend was Justin’s 35th birthday!  Justin was able to go to Mason's school that day for Donuts with Dad.
What a special birthday treat!
That evening, we met my family at Red Elephant to celebrate Justin's birthday and Father's Day with my dad since my time was going to be limited on Sunday because of family coming into town.  Before we left for dinner, the kids were so excited for Justin to open the birthday gifts they had picked out for him.  Mason picked out a pack of mini flashlights and Kate picked out fishing bait.  Both kids immediately asked daddy to share a flashlight with them as soon as the gifts were opened– Mason got a camo one and Kate got a pink one.
 The birthday boy!

So blessed to have this guy as my dad!  Couldn't have asked for a better one!
On Saturday morning, I hosted a baby shower (details in a later post) and later that afternoon, we were invited over to the Reavis's house for a swim party.

We had a great time!  Thank you to Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Elaine for hosting!

On Sunday, Justin’s family arrived in town for a couple days.  Uncle Evan, Aunt Melanie, Erin & Ryan all came late Saturday night and stayed until Tuesday night.  Ryan had a school competition in New Orleans later in the week so they decided to leave early and drive over to Florida for a short visit before heading back to Louisiana for the event.  Since they were coming for a visit, the original plan was for Aunt Linda and Gaga to come up too for a visit to see the Butlers.  Unfortunately, Aunt Linda got sick but other arrangements were made to get Gaga up here to Tallahassee to see everyone.

After church Sunday morning, we took a couple quick pictures afterwards of the dads on Father's Day:

 Love my dad!
The special men in my life.
Happy Father's Day!

We met the Evers' for lunch at Wilderness Cabin but unfortunately Papa couldn't be there since he was on his way to pick up Gaga.  We celebrated Father's Day with him later that evening.  The kids had a great time staying at Meme and Papa's with Erin and Ryan and we all enjoyed spending a few days together before everyone headed back home.
The guys were working on Papa's shed and came across some baby possums.  Of course Kate named it immediately - Sniffy.

 Yuck!

Mason and one of his "best buddies" Ryno.

We had a wonderful visit and it flew by as usual.  But a short visit is better than no visit so we were happy to have everyone here!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
