Poor Kate is starting off the New Year with a fractured ankle. :( This is the first broken bone for either kid and she's been a trooper. On Monday night she was standing on the railing that runs along side our bed and Mason ran over and pushed her off. When he did, her foot slipped down in between the railing and the mattress and she twisted/fell on her ankle and fractured it (technically she chipped her ankle bone).
As soon as I picked her up I saw her foot/ankle starting to swell and I knew she injured it very badly. Justin took her up to Urgent Care where Ms. Rebekah was working and Kate got on her schedule! We never have that kind of luck. They were back in record time (an hour) and Kate had a referral to TOC.
Her swollen ankle.
Ms. Rebekah getting her all fixed up.
Poor little boo.
She spent a couple nights in our bed so daddy could help her to the bathroom in the middle of the night if she needed it (Mommy got booted out). He stayed home with her for two days and took her to TOC on Wednesday to get her cast put on. He tried to convince her to get the pink camo one but she settled on red. I was surprised at her color choice but it looks cute on her!
Kate's red cast and "crunches"
Kate has been in a such a great mood despite this setback and has lectured Mason a couple times about shoving. She has to stay off of her foot for a week and use the crutches and after that she can walk on the cast. She has to wear it for 4 weeks and hopefully she will be all healed!
Poor girl - what a way to start the New Year.
