Happy 6th Birthday Kate!

Our little girl has turned six years old! September 17th was a very busy day of celebrations but I wouldn't want it any other way.  We all woke up early that morning so Kate could open her birthday presents from us.

She's really into anything crafty and "big-eyed" stuffed animals.

A birthday donut complete with a number six candle.

 Singing Happy Birthday.

Her gifts from us.  She also received an American Girl doll from Gigi and Granddaddy (complete with a ballerina outfit), a new Roberts shirt and crafts from Camden, a weaving loom kit and money for her savings account (wonderful!) from Nanny and a beading set from Mimi and Papa (she got that the night before her birthday since they weren't able to come to dinner).
I worked a couple hours that morning and left work early to take a cookie cake to Kate class for a school celebration.  I was really looking forward to going since it would be my first time seeing all the friends in her class.  I have heard about most of them, but until now I hadn't met them all.
Kate had requested this frog cookie cake several months prior.

 Enjoying her treat.
I got a special treat by watching the class do their daily "Go Noodle" activity before dismissal.  They pick a song on the smart board and dance along.  Some of the kids really get into it - including you know who.  She's front and center.
Before I left, Ms. Hughes and Ms. Daniel gathered all the kids together to take a picture. So glad they cooperated (well, most of them)!
That evening, we all met at Red Elephant for our annual birthday dinner.  We were missing Mimi and Papa this year, who were out of town.

Love these three with all my heart!

When we arrived, Kate ran straight for the game room which is full of new games to play.  After she spent $6 on the (frustrating) claw game, trying to grab a stuffed animal, she decided to open gifts...
And blow out the candles on her cupcake...

 Enjoying his cupcake.
Not enjoying his.
I can't even remember what he was crying about. Poor Mason had a "terrible, horrible, no good, very, bad day" that day.  He scraped his knees at school and could barely walk, bumped heads with a classmate, fell and got hit in the mouth on two separate occasions at dinner and then to top off the night, his balloon floated away.

Poor guy.  We felt so bad for him.  Despite all that, he managed to pull through for a couple pictures. That's my boy!

Happy Birthday to our beautiful six year old!
We love you SO much, Kate!!

Kate's 6th Birthday Party!

We celebrated Kate's birthday a little early this year (on the 12th) with a party at the Cake Shop.  This was such a fun idea and all the girls had a great time.  Kate couldn't decide between an art party and a cupcake party but she finally made up her mind to have her party at the Cake Shop this year.

This location worked great for me because the budget deadline was moved up by a month this year  (Sept 15th instead of Oct 15th) which meant I needed something easy. That's exactly what the Cake Shop was!  I didn't do a single thing except pay and make aprons (see Labor Day post). We had never attended a party there before but I highly recommend it!  They did the invitations, provided the party favors, activities, refreshments, birthday cake and even took pictures! Wow.  Kate had a wonderful time and is still talking about it.

 Let the celebration begin!

The event coordinator had the back room decorated so nicely!

 Icing and Toppings!

As each friend arrived, I took of picture of them with Kate.  The only one I missed was Noelle (only because she was a little late and I got distracted).
 Kate and Kendal (church friend)
 Kate and Audrey
 Sterling and Kate
Kate and Caiome (a new friend at Roberts and Ms. Hughes' daughter)
 Kate and Kailin (daycare friend)
 Izzy and Kate
Kate and Stella (new friend at Roberts)
Kate and Peyton (not thrilled about taking a picture - haha)
Kate and Ellianna (new friend at Roberts)

The first thing each guest did was decorate their take home box for all their goodies.
During the party, the girls were given four cupcakes (two chocolate and two vanilla) and two sugar cookies to decorate.  It was hard work but someone had to do it!

Group shots:

After all the goodies were decorated, it was time for the birthday girl to open gifts!

Last but not least, it was finally cake time.  Yummy!

And no party is ever complete without a group picture! :)
Adorable.
 Silly.

Saturday night was Sterling's gymnastic party.  I joked around that the girls were getting all sugared up that morning so they could burn it off that night.  It worked out great!  Kate's friend from daycare, Quinn, was unable to make it to Kate's party that morning but luckily she was able to come to Sterling's that night so they still got to catch up. They hadn't seen each other since May at VPK graduation.

We had a busy day full of celebrations!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
