Our beach trip was very different this year because Gigi and Granddaddy were unable to go. We missed them terribly but we still tried to have a good time. We started off the week just the four of us until Uncle Jordan and crew were able to join us on Tuesday afternoon.
We arrived Saturday late afternoon and unpacked the car and ate the Sonny's BBQ we brought for dinner while watching the women's softball game. It was a perfect night. On Sunday, we ate breakfast at the Donut Hole (so delicious) and then hit the beach for our first full day.
Breakfast at the Donut Hole (one of our favorites)
First beach day!
The waves were a little rough and there was some seaweed but still wonderful!
That evening we went to Pier Park to eat at the Back Porch for dinner. After dinner, we walked around and the kids talked us into riding the Sky Wheel, the new (air conditioned) ferris wheel at Pier Park.
View from the top!
I probably won't ever ride again because I'm not a fan of heights but it was a neat experience.
On Monday, we got up bright and early and enjoyed a beautiful day at the beach.
The water was perfect and super calm. Couldn't have asked for better!
Daddy found a hermit crab!
Later that afternoon we went shopping at the outlet mall and enjoyed dinner at Casa Laredo in Grand Boulevard.
Tuesday was another picture perfect day at the beach.
Not sure what was going on here. :)
Daddy caught a crab!
After lunch we hit the pool and had it all to ourselves.
Late Tuesday, Uncle Jordan, Aunt Katie, Camden and Cooper joined us. So Wednesday morning, we enjoyed another delicious breakfast at the Donut Hole and then hit the beach for our one and only good beach day together.
Family beach picture!
Cooper found a piece of wood and showed off his muscles. He told us he got his muscles from Costco. Haha.
Later Wednesday afternoon we enjoyed some time at the pool.
Thursday, it stormed all day so Uncle Jordan took all the kids to the movie to see Aladdin while Aunt Katie and I shopped. Later that night the two of them went out on a date night while I watched the kids. The boys enjoyed a lazy night watching movies while Kate chatted with her new beach friend, Cate, on Facetime.
Friday morning there was a brief break between storms so we scurried to the beach and pool for about an hour. The water was rough and there were red flags out so we didn't stay too long at the beach before heading to the pool.
Playing in the sand was the only option that day.
Aunt Katie talked me into a new bathing suit while we were shopping Thursday, so I made sure to wear it on Friday.
When the storms rolled back in late Friday morning, the kids and I headed back home (Justin had left earlier in the week on Wednesday). We had several birthday parties on Saturday and with the forecast being rain all day Friday, it was easy to pack up and leave the beach.
So long 30A!
