Mason's First Trip to the Dentist

I took Mason for his first official cleaning at our family dentist (Dr. Swerdewski) and it started out so promising.  I talked to Mason about the visit and he was nervous, but excited to go.  But things went downhill when the mint toothpaste he picked was "too spicy" and the electric toothbrush scared him.  The hygienist tried to bush his teeth with a regular toothbrush since  but by that point, he was too upset.

Big, brave smile.

 And then the tears started.
Well....we tried.  Mason has another appointment in six months so hopefully that one will go better.

August Events and Labor Day Weekend

We are home today waiting on Hurricane Irma to hit Tallahassee starting later tonight and all day tomorrow.  It has been a very stressful time tracking the storm and deciding what to do - stay or go.  In the meantime, I'm going to take advantage of power for a couple more hours and update my blog!  Nothing big has happened since school started but there's a few pictures to share from various things.

One of Kate friends from daycare days, Noelle, and her mom invited us to see the Emoji movie one Friday night.  The ratings were only 6% but it was surprisingly cute!  I think the moms enjoyed watching it as much as the girls did.

One Saturday, we were invited to go shopping in Thomasville, GA with the Bruner girls and Mrs. Marleni.  It had been years and years since I had been up there so it was fun to check out the shops downtown.

We stopped for lunch at "Q's" and it was delicious!  We had eatten Chick-fil-a that morning before we left and we all ended up eating another breakfast for lunch at Qs.  They had the best food!  It was a place I would love to eat at again sometime.
The biggest biscuits I have ever seen at Qs.  And they tasted great!

Mason looked so small compared to this giant deer.
I could shop all day if I always had Bre-Ana, Millie and CJ there to entertain Kate and Mason.

Another big event was the Solar Eclipse that took place.  We were not in an area of "totality" but I still expected it to feel like dusk when the moon passed over the sun.  Unfortunately, I could barely tell a small different in the light.  It was still neat to experience and we got some cool glasses. :)

Some of the girls at work posing for a picture.  There was quite a crowd outside to observe the eclipse.  They adjusted school times so high school students dismissed early and elementary and middle school students stayed later.  I think it was all unnecessary but I can appreciate the extra caution given to ensure everyone remained safe.

One morning before school, the kids were playing super heros.
 Bird Girl
 Ninja Boy
Mason also loves to dress up often.  One morning he came out and helped put out the (pretend) fire in the kitchen...

...and then came in and arrested me!

On Labor Day weekend, our plans were changed because of a terrible bug bite Kate had on the back of her thigh.  I decided to spare the details and not post pictures, but it has taken three weeks to get this bite healed!  After two trips to urgent care and two rounds of antibiotics, I think the worst of it is finally behind us.  But, we had taken her a few days prior to Labor Day weekend to have the place lanced, so we were all unable to go tubing with the church group that Saturday.

We had invited Camden to stay with us to go tubing since his parents were out of town for the big FSU game in Atlanta against Alabama (we lost).  So instead of tubing, we took the kids to the see the Nut Job 2 at AMC.
Later that afternoon, we stopped by my parents and had to take a picture of everyone in their FSU outfits!

 Go Noles!
The boys recently moved up in bible class so I had to document that occasion!  They are growing up fast and it's sinking in that we no longer have babies/toddlers.

It's been a fun month and we are looking forward to fall!

Monday was the first day of the 2017-18 school year!  Kate started Second Grade and Mason is now in Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) at Good Samaritan. Only one more year until they are together at Roberts.

I was excited to hear all about their day and both said they had a lot of fun!

Second Grade Orientation

Today Kate and I went to Second Grade Orientation at Roberts!  I am very excited that she has Kim Vinson for her teacher this year because I have known the Kim and her family for years (I babysat her kids).  Kate was bouncing off the walls to get to orientation and see friends that she hasn't seen since last year.  We also made stops to see Mrs. Burnette (Kate's 1st Grade Teacher) and Mrs. Pettway (Kate's Kindergarten Teacher) before we left for the day.

 Kate and Mrs. Vinson.
Caroline and Kate are once again in the same class and they couldn't be more excited.
 Second Grader!
It's going to be a great year!

A couple weeks ago, I took Kate to my hairstylist at Chelsea's to get her haircut.  She was insistent that she did not want short hair, so Ms. Liz only trimmed it.

Starting second grade or high school?!

Granddaddy's Birthday Celebration!

On Sunday, we celebrated Granddaddy's birthday!  My parent's invited us over for a delicious lunch after church and the kids enjoyed playing over there all afternoon. Uncle Jordan and Aunt Katie were out of town, but Nanny and Camden were able to be there.

Singing Happy Birthday!

Helping Granddaddy blow out his candles.  They really get into it!

Happy Birthday, Dad!
We love you so much and are so glad we were able to help you celebrate!

Sapp/Crews Family Reunion

This year we attended the Sapp/Crews family reunion for the first time in years.  This is a family reunion that Mimi and Aunt Linda grew up going to and it was neat to take the kids and be introduced to extended family members. It was important to Gaga to attend since she hasn't been able to go in years and I'm so thankful she was feeling good and could enjoy it!

Aunt Linda drove Gaga up on Thursday and we enjoyed spending time together during the weekend.  Mason had been sick the week before and Kate missed summer camp that Thursday and Friday with the same virus Mason had (high fevers).  We tried to limit her contact with Gaga that weekend to make certain she didn't pass along her germs.

The reunion is always the last Sunday in July in Lake Butler, Fl (middle of nowhere) at the Lake Butler Community Center.  It took us about two hours to drive down and it poured on us most of the day.  Unfortunately the kids weren't able to get out and enjoy the playground and mini water fountain next door to the Community Center because of the weather, but they were very well behaved despite being stuck indoors.
They were good sports and excited to go!
 Proud Papa.
 Matching in blue.
 My little bookworm.
She tried her best to entertain herself while we waited on lunch to begin.
Mason played on Snapchat to keep busy.

We represented part of the "Crews" side.
I'm so glad we were all able to go to the reunion!

Happy Father's Day!

I want to wish this special guy a Happy Father's Day!  One day Kate and Mason will realize how lucky they are to call him dad.  He coac...
