Easter 2019

We did something new for Easter this year and attended the Lads to Leaders Convention in Orlando to watch Kate compete in song leading and art.  Since we were going to be out of town on Easter, we celebrated early with my parents the weekend before.
The first thing the kids did was dye Easter eggs!

 So pretty!

I didn't get any action shots of the Easter egg hunt but we had a fun time hunting eggs!

The next day at church, the kids had the church egg hunt.  Unfortunately it was raining but the kids seemed to have as much fun or more fun hunting eggs inside as they do outside.

Both kids collected a ton of eggs which meant a lot of candy!

On Easter weekend, we left Friday morning and drove to Orlando to attend the Lads to Leaders Convention.  This was Kate's first time attending and my first time being there since I participated (almost 20 years ago)!  We told Kate to choose two events and she decided on Art Says It and Song Leading - both things she excels in.  The first event was the art judging.  We should have included the theme on the drawing so she didn't place, but we learned for next year!  There were a ton of art entries including photography, scrap booking, posters, drawings, paintings, etc.  It was so neat to walk around and see all the creativity.

Izzy was a finalist for her age group and placed third!
The theme was "I AM" and based on scripture in Exodus so Kate decided to draw the scene of Moses and the Burning Bush.  I was so proud of her drawing and all her hard work!

On Saturday, Kate competed in song leading.  We spent the morning hearing speeches that other girls in our congregation had prepared and then it was time for the song leading portion that afternoon.
She did an amazing job and wasn't nervous one bit!  For her age group, she was a finalist (6 out of 21) and didn't end up placing but she was excited just for placing and getting a trophy on stage.

We had a great weekend with our church family.

On Sunday morning, we hit the road early to get back in town in time for our annual lunch at the University Club and to open treats that the Easter Bunny had left.

 Happy Easter!
